The Harp and Drum session of Celtic tunes met this afternoon at three pm. Only three musicians appeared but mustered up two hours of Irish and American jigs, reels, waltzes and hornpipes.
Today could be coined as a “Tuberville Reenactment”. Steve Horn played mandolin, Leon Peek played guitar and concertina, and Mark Davis kept steady on the bodhran. These three are members of the now dormant bands Tuberville, Swat the Flea, The Band With No Name, and The New Potatoes.
Fellow musicians, David Coulter and Ray Williams sat with the listeners, not knowing the session was today. They make for a very astute audience and politely laugh at all our jokes.
Today’s tunes included greats such as Rakish Paddy, Star of Munster, Westphalia Waltz, Bonapart Crossing the Rhine and many, many more.
